The first reservoir in the city, iconic Marina Barrage exemplifies Singapore’s holistic approach to sustainable water management. Spans the mouth of Marina Channel, this engineering showpiece is a vision of Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew 20 years ago.

Designed and constructed based on green principles, it contains a green roof the size of about four football fields. This 15,000 sqm sustainable roof’s building materials comprise of re-used rocks and stones from its construction site, 100% recycled plastics and eco-friendly drainage cells
